Ardie Savea formally joins the All Blacks for the first time after being included in the touring party as an apprentice on the 2013 end of year tour. Since that opportunity, the young loose forward has continued to develop his speed and athleticism at both provincial and Investec Super Rugby level and has a spectacular all-round game with plenty of spark.
The Hurricanes have had high expectations of him in 2016, naming him for 10 matches in a row during Super Rugby.
Savea has been given plenty of leadership responsibility as well, with captaincy of Wellington and of the New Zealand Schools team to his credit. His career in black has also included New Zealand Under 20 and All Blacks Sevens.
* In 2013, Savea won the New Zealand Age Grade Player of the Year Award.
* Ardie is the younger brother of All Blacks winger Julian. When Ardie makes his debut they will be the 44th set of brothers to play for the team.
* Savea was only 18 years old when he made his provincial debut for Wellington against Manawatu in Palmerston North in 2012.
