Rob Thompson is another Maori All Black hoping to make his debut for the team this year after an exciting Investec Super Rugby season with the Highlanders, in which he played nine times and scored five tries heading into the break.
Thompson joined the Highlanders in 2016 after an explosive 2015 provincial campaign for Canterbury where he stood out as one of the form backs throughout the competition. He had earlier made his Super Rugby debut with the Crusaders, in 2014. He is a powerful runner, who has the strength to play in the midfield and the speed to play in the outside backs.
Originally from the Manawatu, Thompson played club rugby there this season while attending his father's tangi in Woodville.
